Dear Data is a collection of 104 postcards hand-drawn postcards made by designers Stefanie Posavec & Giorgia Lupi.

For an entire year, the two would send each other postcards detailing personal and humoristic details of their daily lives: how many times  Giorgia made someone laugh, how many times Stefanie compulsively looked on her watch or how much clothes Giorgia owns (and how many she actually wears).

The two barely knew each other before this project. Every week and for one year the postcards would travel from New York to London and from London to New York.

By carefully collecting mundane information of their daily lives, analyzing the results and illustrating them on postcards, Stefanie and Giorgia got to know each other, and themselves, vey well.

With this project they show that data isn’t necessarily big or scary, but that it can be very personal, fun and creative!

Dear Data is an intimate and moving portrayal of two friends, beautifully visualizing the uncountable and intricate details of every-day life.

Dear Data is part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Dear Data won the Gold Medal in “Data Visualization Projects” category and “The most Beautiful Project” at the Kantar Information is Beautiful Awards 2015.
