Masterclass by Vera van de Seyp Hyperloop

Program your own browser-based design tool that allows you to generate a (typo)graphic identity. You explore different ways the browser can be used as a design tool to manipulate typography and images. Through iterative sketching, you will develop a design system that balances between design principles and chance.

Day 2| Sketching and coding

Programming an animation
Check your code
Generate more ideas and sketches

Day 3| Finishing more ideas and sketches

Adjusting the design (color, shapes, movement, image)
How will your animation move?
Prepare animation
Present your animated poster on big screens!

Supplies

Laptop with P5.js installed and a code editor such as Visual Studio Code. Both programs are free to download.

All other materials are provided.

Knowledge and skills

It helps if you already know something about design or programming. You do not have to be literate in both subjects. A beginner/basic knowledge of coding does help.

Vera van de Seyp

👾 In her work, Vera van de Seyp investigates generative design tools, computational typography, artificial intelligence and systems in chaos. She is currently part of MIT Media Lab (US) as a research assistant where she works at the intersection of AI and graphic/type design tools.
