Throughout the day, visitors enjoyed a packed programme of talks and presentations that focused on the social and political power of graphic design. Speakers offered a range of perspectives: from the relationship between design and power structures to the role of typography in community building and activism. Speakers included Ruben Pater, Golnar Kat Rahmani, Beatriz Lozano, Tré Seals, Mark Baker-Sanchez, Michael Ellsworth, Raya Leary, Saki Mafundikwa and Aneesh Bhoopathy, with an opening performance by Guido de Boer.
There was plenty happening off-stage too: during the breaks, valuable conversations took place and new connections were made between attendees. The conference thus served not only as a platform for knowledge-sharing, but also as a space for connection. Although it was an intensive and long day, attendees went home with fresh insights, new ideas and a renewed awareness of the impact that design can have on society.
