Summer School

19 - 21 August 2026

Fancy an inspiring and fun-filled summer? At the sixth Graphic Matters Summer School, you’ll make friends, meet design legends and develop new skills.

Summer School is the perfect opportunity to expand your network. You’ll work alongside a diverse group of creators and receive tips from designers who have forged their own unique paths. The social aspect is just as valuable as the technical skills you’ll acquire – here, conversations arise that challenge and enrich your vision as a designer.

  • Work alongside leading designers

This edition we welcome Anthony Burrill, Ellen Lupton and Erich Brechbühl. They are all teaching a three-day masterclass.

As a participant, you choose one masterclass, which you will attend over three days. Click on the name to read more about the masterclass.

  • Does it stick?

In a world where imagery and communication are becoming increasingly digital, the poster sits at the intersection of tradition and innovation. What was once a physical medium for experimentation and social commentary now also exists online and travels through social media. At the same time, there is a growing need for tangible experiences, giving print media renewed value as something that sticks.

Does it Stick? explores how the poster is evolving in this hybrid context. New technologies such as AR, AI and data visualisation are making the medium more interactive and context-sensitive. The poster thus becomes not only a carrier of a message, but also a medium that adapts to time and environment. It also raises new questions about sustainability, ownership and public space.

How can a poster still make a real impact today? During Summer School, participants explore what makes an image powerful and memorable.

  • What is Summer School?

Since 2021, Graphic Matters has organised an annual Summer School. Each masterclass has space for up to 15 participants. You’ll learn new skills, expand your network and meet like-minded people. Over the course of three days, a unique group dynamic develops, allowing you to learn not only from the masters, but also from one another.

Both students and professionals can take part. Participants come from all over the world – from Breda to Korea, from Bulgaria to Iceland. These diverse backgrounds create a highly varied and inspiring group.

“I really enjoyed talking to like-minded people and just sharing a space, some work, thoughts and experiences.” – Filip Boyadzhiev, 2023
